On February 22nd-23rd, partners of the FTI Cocoon project met in the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam to officially kick-off the start of the European Commission co-funded project, part of the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation financing programme.
The FTI Cocoon (under Grant Agreement nº 700615) focuses on the optimization of the production line of the Cocoon, an innovative biodegradable water reservoir to be applied in efficient landscape-scale ecosystem restoration plans. The project will last 20 months in total and will be carried out alongside FGW Fasergusswerk Polenz GmbH (the leader of the project and current manufacturer of the Cocoon) and Land Life Company (the company behind the innovative product and its design).
The meeting lasted both days in order for the representatives from each company gathered to get to know each other, delve in on the immediate activities and set out plans for the upcoming actions. All project partners are very optimistic towards the results to be achieved and have already begun working on the preparatory activities that include work in The Netherlands, Germany and Spain.
Towards the end of the activities, open showcasing events will be held to demonstrate the performance of these water reservoirs and the advantages of the optimized production system.
We would like to thank Land Life Company and the KIT’s hospitality and organization of the event and look forward to working closely these upcoming months.
